oil is currently undergoing a massive correction following the parabolic run-up in the first half of 2008.
books will be written about this runup for the next century.
however, the current correction will take several more months to itself out. there will be three legs down and we have just finished leg number one.

nat gas appears to bottoming in the $6-6.50 range. currently it closed at $6.78 for december contracts the best way to play natural gas is with HNU.
looking at the charts of HNU, it appears that it is bottoming in the $7.25-7.50 range.
it closed halloween at 8.37. somewhere this november, gas and by extension HNU will likely bottom.

last week at a course in montreal, I heard a real-world trader from france predicting that the price of oil would bottom at $48US.
here is a recent article where a scotiabank analyst says the $60US level is the “bottom”
